The Project

Based in Brooklyn, Butter is an award-winning creative studio changing culture through design by shaping the way people see, the way they feel, and the decisions they’re making. Butter creates compelling brand stories, whether the client is a start-up, global brand, or game-changer in between. The studio is part of the 0.1% of creative agencies owned by women, and spans all four corners of the globe, from NYC to London, Berlin, and Dubai.

The Challenge

As Butter’s growth began to exceed expectations, an opportunity emerged to create and foster clarity across functions. The team sought a skilled strategy consultancy to help manage complex, international engagements; set growth goals; and rework business development strategy, from pitch support (collateral and sales) to partnership cultivation.

The Solution

Kanvas joined forces with Butter to help prime the studio for growth over a 10 month engagement. As an immediate need, Kanvas led project management to help manage and align international client stakeholders. As the Kanvas x Butter relationship evolved, Kanvas’ role evolved into: leading the articulation of the studio’s business development and growth strategy, from revamping client pitches to supporting sales calls; supporting the studio in moving from a formal design process to an agile workflow; and guiding key hiring decisions as the studio expanded. Kanvas worked directly with the studio’s Creative Director and Founder.

The Results

Since working with Kanvas, Butter has surpassed countless growth goals, including doubling (2xing!) revenue generated and team size year-over-year.

Kanvas came in and streamlined our operation, fostering stronger client relationships and smoother, more efficient processes. They also lent a much needed external birds-eye-view to our new business process, from sales materials to analyzing our sales funnel and strategizing our pitch.
